A prospective client should be able to understand who is providing the service, what is within scope, how a case is assessed and what cannot be promised. Our approach is built around those distinctions.
What this practice focuses on
| Workstream | What an engagement may include | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| CCF access requests | Evaluate the known facts, authorisation and official submission requirements | A public search or a private firm cannot independently confirm all restricted police data |
| CCF deletion or correction | Evidence analysis and written arguments based on INTERPOL's rules | The CCF does not retry national criminal guilt or decide national extradition |
| INTERPOL diffusion issues | Review confirmed data and the relevant processing/mandate questions | Not every direct national-bureau exchange is necessarily within the CCF's review jurisdiction |
| Urgent CCF-related measures | Assess whether a documented urgent request is legally and procedurally justified | Interim protection is discretionary and is not a local court stay |
| Article 42 revision | Review a newly discovered relevant fact and the applicable timing condition | Not a general appeal on unchanged evidence |
| Coordination with national counsel | Separate national courts and international-data workstreams | A CIL INTERPOL engagement does not imply admission in every domestic jurisdiction |
Evidence before promises
We begin by distinguishing primary records from second-hand assertions: official warrants, judgments, extradition decisions, protection documents, CCF correspondence and reliable documentary chronology. The next question is what those materials establish and what they do not establish. A national court may refuse extradition without ordering deletion of an INTERPOL record. A CCF decision may order deletion without cancelling the national proceedings. Accuracy on these points is more valuable than broad claims about 'clearing a name everywhere'.
For commercial and political cases, a submission must connect the individual facts to the legal issue. It is not enough to call a prosecution 'political' or 'a debt dispute' without supporting documents. Our evidence checklist and procedure navigator illustrate the questions that matter.
Team transparency and qualifications
The existing site identifies a lead legal adviser and refers to experience relating to INTERPOL, CCF practice and international human-rights work. Before publishing detailed credentials, employment histories, professional titles or adviser biographies on this page, verify them directly with the firm and obtain approval for exact wording. If the Phase 01 adviser profile is approved and published, it can be linked here. Otherwise, suppress that link and do not substitute invented profiles or stock portraits labelled as real staff.
The page should also present the site's verified legal entity, contact address and privacy details, reused from existing production legal pages, rather than reconstructed from assumptions. Where services require locally admitted legal counsel, identify that boundary clearly.
How we handle a new enquiry
We start with a short description of the problem and confirm whether there is a real, suspected or historical INTERPOL data issue. We then discuss the evidence required, any urgent national legal deadlines, the proper scope of the CCF's mandate, and whether the requested work can be accepted after normal conflict checks and engagement procedures.
If the matter involves an arrest, detention or imminent extradition hearing, the person should first speak to qualified legal counsel in the relevant jurisdiction. An INTERPOL data review may be complementary but does not replace local defence.
See How We Work for the full process, or For Law Firms for professional referral arrangements.
Independence and limits
The CCF is an independent body. No external professional, including someone with relevant past experience of INTERPOL procedures, should promise privileged access, special influence, an ability to read restricted records without authority, or a guaranteed decision. The official CCF secure portal is run by the Commission, not by CIL. Our tools are educational and do not submit an official application.
A client should understand which work is included in their engagement, who the authorised representative is and which actions remain the responsibility of local counsel or national authorities. Outcomes and timing depend on the record and the applicable procedures.
Frequently asked questions
Is CIL part of INTERPOL or the CCF?
No. CIL is an independent legal-services practice. The CCF is a separate independent body with its own processes.
Can you guarantee Red Notice removal?
No. Any decision depends on the rules, evidence, procedural conditions and the Commission's independent assessment.
Can the team give domestic arrest advice in every country?
No. Domestic defence and extradition questions require the appropriate qualifications and local procedural knowledge. The team should state the actual scope of each engagement.
How is confidential information submitted?
Start with the verified contact process. Sensitive files should only be exchanged after the appropriate instructions and safeguards; the public screening tools do not accept documents.
