CIL offers a confidential initial review and fixed-fee quotations for defined stages of work. We explain the proposed scope before you decide whether to instruct us.
Cost components to understand
| Workstream | Who may charge? | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Initial eligibility review | Law firm, if chargeable | Whether it is free or paid and what it covers |
| CCF access request | Lawyer or representative | Scope of documents, translations and filing |
| CCF deletion/correction application | Lawyer or representative | Legal analysis, annexes, submission and follow-up |
| Article 42 revision | Lawyer or representative | Separate eligibility review and drafting scope |
| Urgent CCF measures | Lawyer or representative | What urgent work is included, how it is authorised |
| Certified translations or records | Translators, courts or other providers | Whether included or billed separately |
| Domestic criminal/extradition counsel | Locally qualified lawyers | Independent fees and local court costs |
Why fees vary
A file with a clear underlying warrant and short chronology is different from a multi-country record with complex financial transactions, competing court decisions and multiple translations. The amount of work often depends on whether INTERPOL data are confirmed, how many legal issues need to be developed and whether urgent local proceedings are running in parallel.
How CIL describes its fee approach
- Initial confidential assessment. Determine whether the work fits the firm's INTERPOL-focused practice and identify the next decision.
- Separate stages. Access, deletion, revision and provisional measures are distinct possible workstreams.
- Written scope and quote. Confirm deliverables, assumptions, client responsibilities and third-party costs before commencing.
- Progress reporting. Explain what has been submitted and what the next procedural milestone is.
Your engagement terms should set out the agreed stage, fee and exclusions so that you know what you are paying for.
Before you accept a quote, ask
- What is included in the quoted stage?
- Who will prepare and review the legal submission?
- Are translations, evidence retrieval or local-law opinions additional?
- Is follow-up after a CCF request for information included?
- What happens if the CCF extends its decision period?
- Is there a separate agreement for extradition or domestic-court work?
FAQ
Is paying INTERPOL part of removal?
No CCF application fee is charged. Be cautious about anybody claiming a special paid channel that guarantees deletion.
Can counsel guarantee success for a fixed fee?
No. A fixed fee is a billing arrangement, not a promise of a result.
What if I only need to know whether data exist?
An access request may be a more suitable initial step than commissioning a deletion application without reliable information.
